Community-based action for drug abuse prevention and support for substance abusers in Tripoli
Funded by the European Union and implemented by “Safadi Foundation” and “Oum el Nour”
Capacity building training workshop for the local activists within the Project “WAII”
Within the framework of the EU funded Project “WAII” implemented by “Safadi Foundation” and “Oum el Nour”, a 3 days capacity building workshop was conducted by Saint Joseph University for Local Activists in Tripoli. Around 30 representatives from contributing associations and organizations have participated in the training.
The objective of this training was to review the problem of drug abuse and addiction, and to identify the elements of risk and protection related to drug abuse and addiction, in order to prepare a preventive and educational strategy to address the problem.
The “WAII” Project aims to establish a sustainable system in the local sector, and to contribute in the development of a unified national strategy to address the drug problem in Lebanon, through providing the local (official and non-governmental) community centers, civil society organizations, NGOs and social service centers with effective mechanisms for drug prevention, within the local communities in Tripoli.
